About us

The Plough Inn is situated in the heart of the picturesque Test Valley; its river, its trout, prosperous farmland & its tranquil location. With the world in favour of getting back to its roots, our new team is striving to earn the beautiful Plough Inn a well-deserved renown by putting the village of Longparish back on the gastronomic map.

Landlords David Hicks and Kerry Hicks have given the Plough a new lease of life with a warm atmosphere. The friendly, helpful and knowledgeable service staff, headed by our charming and attentive restaurant manageress, Kim Smith, will always endeavour to provide you with the best service. We always aim for exceeding expectation and give our customers just enough to whet their appetite until their next visit.

A beautiful Summer’s afternoon can be enjoyed with a drink on our superb and extensive decking area. We also have our own egg-laying bantams, bouncing bunnies and bird life, living in the dovecote, for children and families to enjoy whilst relaxing.

If that wasn’t enough, our comfortable and cozy interior is very welcoming boasting a menagerie of fishing memorabilia and bric-a-brac; detailed pictures of the salmon pools of the rivers Tweed, Spey and Dee, fly fishing rods and landing nets, there is plenty for the eye as well as the stomach.

Our Head Chef, Paul Day, tries to source our produce from the bountiful supply our county offers, the trout is caught fresh from just around the corner in the river test by David! The Plough’s dining ethos aims to provide food for everyone, while boasting a delightfully fresh and well cooked a la carte menu. We also offer fish specials board dedicated to fresh sea fare bought in daily and locally where ever possible. Our Classics menu provides wonderful and affordable yet fresh and home made menu. If your stay is a short one, we also offer take away fish and chips, our regular patrons from the village enjoy a pint of the fantastic local ales or beers or a glass of wine from our wonderfully stocked wine list while they wait.

Despite being a traditional English pub, as you will discover, we provide this and a whole lot more.
