One of the most recent chef patrons of the Plough Inn was James Durrant. When it comes to top class restaurants, Mr. Durrant has over 18 years of experience in top class restaurants. In 1997, James’s showcased evident talent at the Welsh culinary team in Cardiff and was also a team member that cooked for HRH Queen Elizabeth. Mr. Durrant also worked in the Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, it is well known as a Michelin 3 star restaurant. James bought the Plough Inn 2012.
The Plough became quickly recognized as UK’s pub of the year and also was awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand. The Michelin Bib Gourmand is known as a highlighted restaurant that offers the public exceptional food at moderate prices. However, the restaurant must offer menu items priced below a certain standard. The Plough also ranked 4th in 2015 as the top dining pub in the nation. Also achieving the highest climber award in 2015, The Plough came out on top.
The Plough’s most recent head chef was James Salkeld. He joined the Inn around 2014. James has earned over 13 years of experience in the UK’s top restaurants. He also spent more than 5 years abroad working in Michelin establishments. James has also traveled in China, Thailand, Australia, Fiji, and New Zealand. He was a great addition to the Plough team as he demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and excellence.
The most recent sous chef in the restaurant was Phil Bishop. He became a team member in the restaurant around 2013. With hard work and effort, he was promoted from Junior Sous to Sous chef. Phil was recognized as a very talented younger chef. He showcased natural ability and cooking skills that made the Plough team proud.
However, The Plough Inn, unfortunately, closed down in late 2015. The pub had great business during the lunch hours and weekends. The slower times for the pub were weekdays in the evening time. Although due to the publicity received from the awards, the restaurant could not bring in more business.
